This website is a modernized [2020] copy of nantahalanc.com. Jim and Faye were the original authors, but they have passed away. The site is so rich in information, I could not let it pass on with them.
I came across their work while looking for more information on my family history, the DeWeeses.
I have taken some liberties in organizing the site, some light editing (spelling, clarifying dates, etc.), and with layouts. I’ve tried to stay true to the spirit of the original site, though, which is to tell a story about the history of the area.
I do have some extra information about where to stay, what to do, etc., but it’s from my point of view. If you want something more comprehensive, you should go to visitnantahala.com. I was in Nantahala every summer since I was a child and have personal connections there. No one pays me for an endorsement.
